Many children dream of a fashion design career, the millennials having been raised watching Project Runway! This dream and calling came to myself as a child as well, after a literally passed through a fire of a tragic girlhood accident. Leaving my lower body severely scarred right in time for middle school, I can truly say that this near death experience instilled in my young heart the insatiable desire to survive and thrive at a life by design. Still the fear of facing my peers in the middle school locker room was another reminder of my shattered self esteem. How would I rebuild and feel good about myself?
After discovering Vogue Patterns at the age of 9 I would elaborate on them and create garments so fabulous they would distract from my disfigurement. I developed such a knack for empowerment through fashion that it became my mission to empower others the same way. So I decided to pursue a fashion design career!
Cal grew up helping me with making garments for clients and then went on to study sales and marketing, he went into international business and became a corporate trainer for fortune 500 companies as they launch new sales campaigns.
His vision of developing my brand, keeping it innovative and high-fashion without watering down our audacious aesthetic and brand message, while keeping home base in the Midwest of the US Chicago, the most conservative major market in the world for fashion. He made a move adding two menswear brands with a very forward futuristic vibe. I made it very clear we want to stay small, and keep creative control without the regiments attached to a global brand.
